DMLS
Return to FAQ summary
Metal fusion or DMLS enables direct manufacturing of parts or mould cavities. It is particularly suited to very complex, small parts. Given that the part is manufactured layer by layer, the complexity is not a problem. Consequently it is possible to produce parts that could be made in no other way.
We have four materials available for different needs:
- Cobalt/Chrome
- bronze
- stainless steel (2 types)
- maraging steel
For the applications and characteristics of each material, you can refer to the attached table.

Tolerances can go down to 0.05 mm depending on the part's geometry.
1°) Wall thicknesses of less than 0.5 mm should be avoided.
2°) You need supports for manufacturing the part, which must then be machined off. A process limit would be the inability to remove the supports.
3°) Beyond a certain volume it is no longer cost effective.
