[YOUR CHALLENGES//OUR CREATIONS] PHOTOGRAMMETRY AND 3D SCANNING
The Moto Ain team handed over one of its motorbikes, the Yamaha R1, which is competing in the EWC, the Motorbike Endurance World Championship, to us!
  • The aim was to scan the fuel tank, its housing and surrounds, to enable a new tank to be designed and modelled.
  • This tank will be custom-made, without compromising the riding position or raising the centre of gravity.

3D SCANNING ON OUR SITE

Thanks to our Tritop photogrammetry equipment, an accurate reading of the tank’s position was taken before dismantling.
We were then able to scan the removed tank.

A complete scan of the entire motorbike was performed to allow the Moto Ain team to conduct aerodynamic simulation calculations.

REVERSE ENGINEERING

A new rocker arm

A rocker arm was also scanned on our site. Reverse engineering enabled the 3D scan data to be transformed into a fully exploitable CAD file. Optimisations will be made to the part and a strength calculation may be carried out using digital simulation (FEA). The next step? A new rocker arm, perfectly tailored to the motorbike, for the Moto Ain team’s forthcoming races and future victories!
